BMD Releases V 9.0.4 of DaVinci Resolve

All good answers. But let me add, what kind of shots will you be tankig and what is your price range? Do you need a high quality fast lens or just a general all purpose? Sigma just released their upgraded 18-200 with Image Stabilization. It is not the sharpest or fastest lens out there, but this is a good general purpose lens for about $500 and you only need to carry one lens to cover the wide and telephoto ranges. Tamron just annonced a 18-250 f3.5-6.3 ($500), so this is another alternative. But if you need a fast lens, you'll have to spend a bit more. Examples of Canon lenses to cover that same range. 17-55 IS 2.8 or 24-70 IS 2.8L, and 70-200 IS 2.8L. Purchasing two of those lenses to cover the wide and zoom ranges will put you down over $3,000. Sigma has their EX line which is their "L" type class lens (High quality glass). They have the 18-50 f2.8 and 50-150 f2.8. Buying both of those will be like $1250 US before taxes.If you want slightly more reach (but is a slow lens), Canon has the 17-85 f4.0-5.6 IS or around $500. Sigma has a 18-125 f3.5-5.6 ($275) that is slightly sharper and has better contrast than their 18-200 lens.As for the flash, try to get the 430EX as it is their mid-line flash. The 220EX is ok, but does not provide that much more power over the built-in flash. It is a great travel companion, but you'll be wishing for more power and flexibility when you learn more about flash photography. The 430EX has more power and zoom head flexibility. Just came across your site. I’m new to Sony from Canon where I used a 5D MkII for a few years with nice L glass etc but I thought the smaller cameras had reached a point where I could ditch the big heavy camera and go light.So I sold everything and tried 4/3 first and a few others before settling on the 5N with the external EVF and a bunch of Contax G lenses and a few others for now. Very happy with the Contax G – so super sharp.Anyhow back on topic – love the site but would like to see the comparisons directly rather than 3 pages of all ISO for each camera it would be great to see each ISO together so we can compare. Bit frustrating the way it is now to flip back and forward. Not to hammer your bandwidth but it would be awesome to download a RAW file of some of the files too eg 1600 ISO across all three cameras. BTW ISO 3200 is missing for two of the cameras?Amazing to see the old girl still holds her own against the new cameras but as another poster points out the 5D is double to price and therefore should do better as does the D3s.Thanks again for your work with the site I’ll be visiting alot I think Roll on the NEX-7!

Brian,lol, Yeah DMF sucks when it comes to that and I ended up turning it off even though it’s awesome sometimes. As far as the focus goes, you will find that it is hit or miss in those situations depending on a # of variables. When I had that issue with the A77 a while back I was so confused why it would just go past stuff when trying to focus, so I compared it to the 5D Mark II. Obviously the 5D Mark II destroyed it, but because it’s a Full Frame Pro grade camera, it’s not a fair test really. I often wonder if it’s because of all the face detection technology built in? It’s always looking for that stuff to track etc.. so it stands to reason that could be part of the situation. I wish I had a concrete answer for you, sorry. You will start to be able to predict when it will and won’t be able to focus. In those situations I just try and find something with high contrast reletivly close to the same focal plan. then re-frame. Often faster than manual, but not always What do you think of the image quality?? Jay
